Tableau
is where students make still images with their bodies to represent a scene.
Tableau allows students to truly understand the meaning of a concept, story or
idea because they are delivering their understanding through physical poses,
gestures and facial expressions rather than using words. As an in class
activity, we were to create tableaus in groups of 4-5. The teacher read a story
and we were to continue the next part of the story by creating a tableau.
Students could use different expression, levels and space to strengthen their tableau. Something I learned about tableaus is that you can ‘tap into’ a tableau
and ask students to share what they are thinking/feeling and why they
positioned themselves that way.
